Infused with garlic, salt and pepper, oregano, and parsley, this easy and delicious homemade zesty garlic bread seasoning recipe will add zest and flavor to so many dishes. The possibilities are limitless!
This recipe for zesty garlic bread seasoning came to me via a Dallas restaurant. They gave our table a basket of what they called “toasties”: strips of crunchy toasted bread covered in the most amazing seasoning. We asked about the seasoning and found out that they sold it, so I was able to bring it home for my family to try as well.
From the very first batch of this zesty garlic bread I made at home, folks came out of the woodwork. “What is that delicious smell?” “When is it going to be ready?” My favorite was when my daughter’s best friend, Sara Jane, came over and the moment she walked in the door she paused and said, “I don’t know what it is but as soon as it’s done I want some!”.
To say that this wonderfully seasoned toasted bread was a hit would be an understatement. So you know I had to come up with my own recipe in order to duplicate it after my jar of seasoning was gone. The zesty seasoning recipe I am sharing with you today is not identical to the one from the tea room, but it is close enough that my family still offers up the same reactions whenever they smell the bread toasting.
This mix makes a wonderful gift, especially when accompanied by a nice loaf of french bread. It also has plenty of uses as an all-purpose seasoning too. All that is required is a bowl and a spoon to stir it together!

Wow , going to have to try this seasoning , it sounds wonderful , and i bet it would be good on some chickens thighs and legs in the crockpot , ty precious.
Made the mix and used it to make the toasties. Very tasty but a little more salt than I would have liked. I may add more garlic to the rest of the batch I made, to cut the salt taste.
I just made a batch of the bread seasoning mix, hoping to put it in small jars and give to friends. No matter how much I stir or shake this stuff, I end up with the parsley and oregano on top. Is there a way to keep all the mix blended?
Where can I find Red Star yeast? I checked all the grocery stores in Huntsville recently. I would like to make the Preston Rolls.
Walmart has it on baking Aisle with other yeast. Kroger doesn’t carry it but I can always find at Walmart
Costco has it
For some reason, I can’t seem to get your recipes to print from my ipad or iPhone any more. They use to work great but now, I just get a blank gray screen when my print preview window appears. Anyone else having problems printing? Looks like a great recipe!
Hey Vanessa! I’m sorry you’re having problems. I just went to a recipe on my iPhone and then my iPad and when I clicked the print button the printable recipe popped right up with no issue. I wonder if it is an update of some sort on your devices? I really don’t know about these things. All I know to do is restart your phone and hope for the best. I will think on it today and talk to my son as well. You are the first one I’ve heard of having this problem so my sincere hope is that it is a simple one to fix – or maybe it will correct itself somehow, in the mysterious way that these devices often do!
Made. Tried. Loved. You are right, it is a hit. Trying out today on chicken tenders. Mine doesn’t look as green as yours, but it is still marvelous, Thanks
I am so glad you liked it!!!
