– Yellow squash – Sweet onion, like Vidalia onion. – Salt – Pepper – Bacon grease
Place sliced squash and chopped onion in a skillet. If you are using bacon grease and minced garlic, add them now as well.
Add a cup of water, just enough to cover the bottom of the pan, and bring to a gentle boil over medium-high heat.
Reduce heat to medium and cover, simmering for about 10 minutes or until the squash and onions are translucent. – Strain the vegetables out of the pan using a slotted spoon and salt and pepper to taste. Serve warm.
