Thanks to my husband for recording the Southern Plate Tailgating Cooking Show this past week at UNA. We divided it up into segments lasting a few minutes long each so you can start and stop as you have time. I cannot tell you how much fun I had! This was the first time I’ve ever done anything like that. I’d never been on a stage with a mic and I was worried I might get nervous but let me tell you, I walked out onto that stage with my Southern Plate family in the audience and I was instantly at home. I could do that every night and be happy!
Hope you enjoy it. I would love to hear back from you in the comments section!
Gratefully,
Christy

If only family reunions gave door prizes..

Reading a special passage from the book
Nestle Toll House Cookie Bars, Story of Margarine versus butter, Family Adventure Days, Why I like to cook at ten or eleven at night, Having fun with a member of the Southern Plate Family (who loves his wife!),
Talking about the Southern Living Article, Thrilling kids with popcorn,The Alphabet story, Family as the ultimate backup plan.
My fancy dishpan, Mary Poppins’ visit to my house, making caramel corn, wrapping up the show.
I had such a wonderful time doing this show, I hope you enjoy it. We had a break in between each segment where my dad and Brady went to the mic and gave away door prizes. Bradybug LOVED the microphone and took the opportunity to tell a few jokes and interact with the audience, that is why we’re all laughing a bit as we go back to the cooking each time.
Special thanks again to the HES students at UNA for all of their hard work. I’ve been asked a lot whether or not I will do more cooking shows like this and there is no way I could have pulled it off without the culinary students so y’all would have to get me a big old tour bus to take them all on the road!

Christy, I LOVED watching all the clips, I swear, you’re as entertaining as Paula Deen, you need a TV show of your own!! I think you’re going to go far!!! Best wishes!!!!!!!! ♥ Sandy
Wow! Incredible!
Oh, Christy! I got all choked up when you were introduced! What a marvelous opportunity for you, and for all those blessed enough to be present! And thank Ricky, please, for filming the show so that we could watch also! I’ve only had time to view 3 of them, but look forward to the others as soon as my work is done today. Beautiful job, Christy, as always!!!
Looks like a really fun evening , but I feel sort of like Cinderella sitting home in the ashes and wishing I could be there. Congratulations on a successful event.
Great show, you did a great job!! But now I have to go cook something good. Or at least break into a jar of apple butter.
No time to look at this now but will offer it to myself as a reward when I get caught up on my housework! The write up sounds good and can’t wait to
see the whole thing! I would have loved to have been there to see it in person!
Thanks for sharing with us and your hubby is “the berries” for taping it for you!
🙂
I loved watching these videos. I felt like I was part of the audience….except I didn’t get the pleasure of tasting all the dishes or have the chance to win one of the doorprizes. 🙁 Thanks to your hubby for recording so we could experience the show and all the people who made the show possible.
You are a natural in front of the camera and I think you need your own cooking show. Maybe you could be on “The Next Food Network Star”. Can’t wait to meet you at the book signing in Atlanta.
