Smucker’s Giveaway

This contest is now closed. Congratulations to Carolyn Noblet, whose name was chosen at random to win!

My kids are huge PB&J folks. When we were dating, my husband lived on them, literally. He kept a loaf of bread, a jar of peanut butter, and a jar of jelly in his desk drawer and that is what he ate – every single day.

Of course, since we got married he has had a lot more variety in his diet – but I still find him in the kitchen late at night several times a week making his favorite snack. Today, in celebration of Ricky’s love of jelly and Smucker’s love of family, I’ve teamed up with Smucker’s to offer one lucky person a huge gift basket filled with an assortment of Smucker’s products and more!

To enter just leave a comment below!

Tell us about some of your favorite family traditions, or just say hi!

You can also check out Smucker’s on their Facebook page if you like or visit their website to learn more about their products, get recipes, and more!

Contest closes at midnight Saturday, March 10th. Winner will be chosen at random and notified via email. Winner will also be announced on
this post and on The Southern Plate Family Facebook page.

Disclaimer: I have not been financially compensated for this post and I don’t eat nearly as much jelly as my husband and kids do.

  1. My family’s dogs was the smartest dog I’ve ever known; Daddy and us kids doted on him, including Christmas, when Daddy would buy a doggy gift and wrap it for King. One year the store ran out of doggy gifts early, so we couldn’t get King his gift, but we didn’t think he’d notice, cuz he was a dog LOL

So after my brother and I opened our gifts and we’d started collecting the tossed wrapping, King was sitting expectantly in front of Daddy’s chair, eyes bright in anticipation, slowly wagging his tail. Daddy then knew that King did indeed know it was time for his own special gift – and we didn’t have one for him!

So Daddy whispered to me to grab some of the used wrapping paper, sneak into the fridge and make up a “gift” for King, without Mama catching me sneaking goodies out the fridge hahaha! Then I had to tuck King’s homemade gift under the tree for Daddy to “find”. My brother helped distract King as I snuck his gift – by this time, King was getting a bit pouty, for real!

So now that King’s gift was in place, Daddy made a big deal about looking for King’s gift under the tree. King got over his pouty spell real fast, and was jumping all around like that silly Boxer on YouTube (King was a Boxer too), until his gift was opened and he was eating his Christmas gift (by that time, Mama had busted us, but we only got in a little trouble since Daddy was in on it too hahaha!)

From then on, we made certain to buy a doggie gift as soon as we saw them at the store. And every Christmas would laugh about the time we learned that King knew he was supposed to get a Christmas gift too.

King left for the Rainbow Bridge a long time ago, but he’s still remembered, especially after exchanging Christmas gifts.

  2. Very cute basket! My two girls love jelly! Our favorote way is on top of a cream cheese bagel, would be a fun breakfast item or great for an afternoon pic nik! What a fun give away!

  3. My favorite family tradition that my father passed to me and I am passing onto my son is meteor shower picnics. My Dad used to wake me up in the middle of the night, carry me outside, throw me on the hammock with blankets and chocolate chip pancakes he just made and we’d watch the meteor showers together. I hardly remember saying a word but it was magical and special!
