    I thought of you last week because I managed to fall and break my ankle. I remembered your far worst injuries of a year or so ago and how bad I felt for you. I cannot imagine how hard it must have been since I injured myself and run into little problems doing the simpliess things. I had my very busy husband make me some “whoa horsie” salad to connect with you. Now I have time to read how to defeat depression and learn to be a happy person again. Any hints to share mental or physical ?

    You spoke about what we let into our minds affecting our behavior.
    My mother is easily depressed. She was years ago relaying to me about all the advertisements in the Sunday paper and how she felt she was so poor and not able to again buy all the pretty things at Christmas time.
    She was falling in to the dark pit.
    In response to that line of thinking I suggested that she stop looking at the ads.
    She didn’t. Every year it has been the same.
    We don’t get a paper,or watch much tv. I try to listen to my people and gift them accordingly.
    Sometimes I’m right on ,sometimes not. I try not to let outside media guide me.
    A book on this topic would be wonderful.

    Thank you so much for sharing so much of yourself with others. How timely this is for me. My father and mother just moved to assisted living and my father is very depressed and having a very difficult time. My mother has severe dementia and doesn’t know much that goes on around her. My family has tried to make this better for my Dad as much as possible. It dawned on me Sunday that I cannot make anyone happy. Everyone needs to decide to find something positive in every situation, even if it is a small positive. Everyone has to decide to try to find happiness for themselves, and rest in the assurance that God will give you peace and comfort, but one must seek and ask for it.

  4. I have always believed God will lead us, if we let Him, to just the message(s) we need, at exactly the right moment we need it/them. Your series on depression contains just that sort of messages. The video format gives tone, inflection, facial expression, etc. that further add to the meaning of what you are saying. Written text better allows pausing mid-message for reflection, as well as re-reading phrases especially meaningful to the individual at a specific place or time or need. Both are immensely helpful in their own unique and complimentary ways. Have you ever considered consolidating the series in a book? Love your blog and your recipes, but a book would be a helpful adjunct. Thanks and Love.
