  1. My favorite thing to make is bouja. For those of you who don’t know, it is a vegtable sort of soup I make it in the fall when all the veggies are ready in the garden.Add chicken, beef and “ox tail” MMMM good!

  2. Dishpan cookies! My two youngest grandsons, ages 5 and 4, love stirring these in a big yellow dishpan and of course eating them too!

  3. Chicken and Dumplings are the best way to warm stomachs and hearts. No matter how many kids show up for dinner, there is always plenty and very healthy. I add carrots, celery and onions so it’s almost a Chicken Dumpling Stew.

    Merry Christmas.

  4. Hands down, its your drop biscuits! We make them every Sunday morning for our Sunday brunch! They are the basis of our brunch 🙂

  5. I will be visiting with the youngest of my five children on Monday, it has been two years since I have seen him. He is in the Air Force stationed in California. His favorite meal that he requested (and the one all his brothers always ask for) is fried chicken, butter beans, rice and gravy and macaroni and cheese. My macaroni is made with eggs, milk, cheese (kraft extra sharp) and butter. Always a hit.

  6. I love your “Coke cake” We love it, all of us!! It is our favorite family treat on the weekends!!! I love your site!!!

  7. Hi Christy, I Love to make Cheesy Chicken Enchiladas for my Husband. I find it challenging at times to prepare healthy tasty meals. You see 5 yrs ago I had Gastric Bypass Surgery. I did very well for the first 3 yrs I had lost 197 lbs, but I have in the last 2 yrs gained back about 75 lbs. And now my Husband has also had the surgery 5 weeks ago and is already down 45 lbs. I am hoping that with him also having the surgery and being so new to it that I will again begin to eat and exercise like I am supposed to. I wish all the family here at Southern Plate and you and your family a Happy Healthy Holiday Season!
