  1. I love to cook for my family. One of their favorite meals is chicken enchiladas and a favorite dessert is cream cheese danish.

  2. As the weather here in the mountains gets colder and colder (we’ve already had snow!) I love to fix some comfort food in the crock pot. One of my favorite things is vegetable beef soup. I make a big old pot and then I have leftovers to take to work for lunch. The perfect thing to eat with the soup is corn bread. Yum, I’d love some right now!

  3. My family’s all time favorite recipe is lasagna. It is a recipe that I got from a former pastor’s wife 30 years ago and it is delicious if I say so myself. I think the secret is the fennel seed that takes it up a notch.

  4. I am single and have no kids, but have a niece I’m close to. She used to come over and spend weekends with me and we would always cook our own made up dish “Pasta Alfre-carba-vera” It was basically linguini pasta with an alfredo sauce and whatever else we felt like throwing in. We’d go to the grocery and decide what ingredients we wanted that night, the we’d go home and cook. I always had age appropriate jobs in the kitchen for her to do, then a few minutes before it was ready, she’d go pick out a classical music CD and put it on, set the table and light candles. We’d then eat dinner by candlelight while listening to usually string quartets, and discussing life.
She is 22 and married now, but she still cooks this for her husband. We still talk about how much fun that was and she has told me that it wasn’t necessarily the dish, but the fact that she was involved in the whole process that made it so special for her. Hopefully, one day, I can continue this with her children!

  5. The favorite thing to make for me and my boyfriend is bbq turkey tenderloin sandwiches in the crock pot! yummy! 🙂
