  1. Where do I start? I grew up with grandmothers who loved to take time to teach me how to cook. I felt the need to pass that on to my children. On Chirtmas Eve, we start by making Christmas cookies for Santa. From there we move on to the preparation of our Christmas brunch. My girls help make my favorite sausage and grits casserole along with their favorite monkey bread. We stay in the kitchen most of the day and make a horrible mess, but it’s memories I feel they will cherish forever. Merry Christmas, Christy!

  2. My chocolate fudge pie! It is required at all holiday dinners and is the go to dessert for a quick chocolate fix. Both my daughters are now making it for their families!

  3. Every Christmas morning after all of the gifts are unwrapped, I make Monkey Bread for breakfast. Everyone snacks on this untli the big Christmas meal is ready. This is of my son’s all time favorite thing I make. He has already asked if I have the ingredients to make it for this Christmas.

  4. Every holiday I make my momma’s cornbread stuffing. When I was a little girl I was always hanging out in the kitchen and my title was “taste tester” lol along with my daddy of course. My momma would make pans of biscuits and cornbread and use day old bread and I got to tear it into little bits in a large bowl. As I got older I then got moved up to “chopper girl” and I got to chop the onions and celery into tiny little pieces. I lost my momma in 1989. She got non hodkgins lymphoma and passed within 6 weeks, the day before my 26th birthday. It’s funny how all those years of being “taste tester” and then “chopper girl” to where now I passed that same tradition onto my children. They are all grown now and still to this day have to have Meme’s dressing, even tho they were only 8, 5 & 4 when she passed… I have tried to keep those traditions of my mothers, along with many others, but don’t get me started, lol… to hopefully one day when I’m gone, give them something to reflect back on and remember my stories, and the stories of my momma… Holidays are all about tradition and family to me. With this iPad I hope to read stories to my grandson! Good luck all. Love reading everyones posts and always reading Southern Plate’s! Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!!!
