  1. One of my favorites is homemade macaroni and cheese. I always requested this for my birthday dinner (from my mom) growing up. And she still makes it for me whenever I visit.

  2. Thirty-seven years ago when my husband and I were first married, we found a recipe in a gifted cookbook that we would join in the kitchen to assemble and bake. Today our children love the recipe, but wait for us to make it. That taste pleasing recipe is called “Tamale Perfection.” By the way Christy, I too love my grits with butter and sugar. When I add sugar, those around give off a frown.

  3. We have been making up our own “recipes” lately. Like stir fry veggies with brown gravy and ground beef or add popcorn chicken and sweet & sour sauce….serve over rice. My kids even will eat these!!

  4. My favorite recipe to make with family is burgoo. It is a traditional stew that we serve at our annual Kentucky Derby Parties.

  5. My family (from the grandparents down to the baby) are crazy about a chocolate cake made with dark chocolate cocoa and dark chocolate butter cream icing. It is so moist and rich and delish all we need is lots of cold milk!
