In celebration of this new addition, Kraft Foods is giving away a 16GB Wi-Fi iPad to one lucky Southern Plate Family member along with the downloadable app to spice things up for moms and their kids during this holiday season.
But first, a little bit more on how the app can help you -and your the kids- out in the kitchen. The new content pack contains globally-inspired recipes, how-to videos, and a ton of tips and tricks from Marcus himself to show just how easy it is to get everyone involved in creating meals together. The new content is really Marcus designed the content pack to bring both parents and children into the kitchen to make cooking a family affair (and a fun one at that!)
And now for the fun part: bringing this virtual cookbook into the kitchens of your readers! Below are some screenshots of the app and a recipe from the new content pack.
The interface is colorful, interactive, informative, and FUN!

My favorite holiday recipe besides mashed potatoes with lots of butter (no gravy) on it is making Salted Nut Rolls. I use grandma’s recipe and in fact I made it this week for our cookie exchange at work. You can make it in advance and freeze it, it’s easy and very yummy.
I’d love to try this:
Butternut Squash Casserole with a Praline-type topping
My favorite recipe to make for my family (& friends) is No-Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies. They are always a crowd pleaser, and SO easy!
I love to make Apple Cranberry Crisp with my kiddos. They love to spiral peel the apples and rip open the packets of oatmeal!
My favorite thing to make is Hot Wings. My aunt makes then, shes from britian (We are from States). When I first had them, I had to get the recipe from her. I have them every week. Best wings in the world!
Your chicken and dumplings!!! Love making it, love eating it!!!!!! Just thinking about them makes me say WOOT WOOT!
As a single mother, spare time is a luxury! My favorite meal to make with my son is trail mix. It goes such a long way and during the holiday season it’s a staple in our house. He takes it as a snack for school, we bake it in cookies, add it to oatmeal and he has recently coined his signature trail mix cereal (trail mix with cornflakes)! Anyway, although this isn’t dinner, it’s a quick easy way for me to involve my little guy and save time while making something we use & love!
One of my favorites to make for my family is a Peaches and Cream pie. I got the recipe from a church cookbook, but of course tweaked it a little to make it my own. I make a graham cracker crust. The filling is a kind of a mix between a pudding and cake. Then canned peaches are layered on top of the filling. Then a topping with cream cheese, whipped topping, and peach juice from the can of peaches is mixed up and spread on top of the pie. A dusting of cinnamon completes the pretty picture. Then it is baked. It is good hot, but even better cold. One of my daughters loves it so much, she asked for it on her birthday instead of a cake. So I made it for her and put 16 candles on it.
