Cinnamon Apple Crisps – Only 3 Ingredients!

These oven-baked cinnamon apple crisps are the perfect healthy snack to enjoy this Fall. But be warned, it’s dang near impossible to stop after one!
Going to do some apple picking this Fall? Why not turn your bounty into a batch of these cinnamon apple crisps? It only takes five minutes to prep this easy apple crisp recipe, followed by two hours in the oven. Then in a jiffy you and the family will have three cups of deliciously crunchy oven-baked apple chips to munch on.
You can serve these crisps in a variety of ways – either sweet with yogurt, savory on top of a salad, or a handful just on their own!
These cinnamon apple crisps are perfect for many reasons, like the fact that they’re easy and cheap to make, and also that they’re healthy! But be careful, they can be addicting! Yep, once you make a batch, I guarantee you’ll be going to buy more apples immediately to make round two – they’re just that good.
Recipe Ingredients
- Granulated sugar
- Ground cinnamon
- Granny Smith apples
Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with a cooling rack. In a small bowl, whisk together the sugar and cinnamon until combined. Set aside.
Using either a knife or a mandolin, cut the apples into thin slices that are almost see-through. Thinner slices will give you crispier apple chips. I don’t recommend peeling or coring your apples during this prep.
Lay the apple slices on the cooling rack and try not to overlap them. If you don’t have a cooling rack, using a pan will do as long as you spray it really well. However, the apple crisps will come out much less curly without the ability of air to get underneath them during the baking process. They will still taste good though, guaranteed!
Sprinkle the tops of the apples with the cinnamon sugar mixture. Ensure you flip the apples and sprinkle the backs too.
Bake for two hours, flipping the apples halfway through. When the apples are done baking, they will continue to crisp up while cooling. Turning the oven off and letting them cool in there will make them crisp up quicker.
After cooling, store in an airtight bag or container at room temperature.
Recipe Notes
- You can use any crisp apple variety in this recipe, besides Granny Smith. This includes Pink Lady, McIntosh, and Honey crisp.
- You can also make air fryer apple chips, but due to the limited space in air fryers, you’ll only be able to do about one medium-sized apple at a time. If you choose to use an air fryer, set it at 300 degrees for 16 minutes, and still turn them as you do in this recipe.
- You can use a sheet but you will lose the shape a bit. See additional directions in the FAQ.
- If you want to add some extra spice, you can also opt to sprinkle your apple chips with nutmeg, ginger, or cardamon.

What can I serve with my cinnamon apple crisps?
While you can easily eat them as a stack right out of the container, you can also serve your chopped apple crisps on top of oatmeal, over yogurt and granola, dipped in peanut butter, as a crunchy salad topping, or with vanilla ice cream for dessert! Sweet or savory, there are many ways to enjoy these apple chips!
What do I use if I don’t have a cooling rack?
I tested this out for those of you who don’t have cooling racks and the crisps are still delicious if you use a regular sheet pan. Just make sure you coat it with vegetable oil so they don’t stick. Also, I would make the apple slices slightly thicker as well (not too much) because the thin ones still wanted to stick and were harder to flip. If you don’t have a cooling rack, they won’t be quite as crispy since the air can’t get underneath them. And just like in the recipe, make sure you flip them half way.
Can I just use my dehydrator?
Yes you absolutely can! They won’t be as crispy and you will have thicker slices, but dehydrating apples with this cinnamon and sugar mix is so good as well.

You can leave out the sugar/sweetener if you use a sweet-crisp variety of apple like Honey Crisp, Fuji, Gala, Pink lady.

Hi Margie, Instead of Splenda I agree with Barbara, you can use a sweeter apple like the ones she listed. Then you can avoid any added sweetener. If however you wanted to use Splenda then use if very sparingly. When I made these for my mom, I didn’t mix the cinnamon and sugar together, I added just a touch of sugar and the cinnamon separately so I had a good idea how much of the sugar (in your case sweetener) was going on. Mama doesn’t like things too sweet so I didn’t want to overwhelm her with too much sugar for her taste. Hope that helps!
