If you haven’t tried a dirty soda before, you’re in for a treat! All it takes is three ingredients (syrup, soda, and creamer) to make my quick and easy Dirty Dr Pepper recipe.
Public declaration time: I’ve become an addict. I know I can live without this Dirty Dr Pepper recipe, but I don’t want to!
It all started when I made friends with these two sweet ladies who share my love of fun non-alcoholic drinks. I was talking about my favorite concoction (lemonade and cherry juice) when they mentioned Dirty Diet Coke. My interest was immediately piqued. Dirty soda? I knew they didn’t drink either so it had to be something good. As soon as I got home I found their Dirty Diet Coke recipe and set out to make my own version.
If you know me, you know that I’m team Diet Dr Pepper. It takes less than five minutes to make this dirty soda recipe with just three ingredients: soda of your choice, coconut syrup, and half and half. I know, I know. I was skeptical about combining half and half and soda too. But this is what gives the drink its “dirty” look. And trust me. Once you have that first sip, you’ll be a changed person. It’s like an ice cream float or an old-fashioned egg cream. Rich, creamy, fizzy, sweet, and refreshing goodness!
This is the next best thing to having fairies clean your house while you sleep! It’s like a trip to the beach for under a dollar! It’s like a personal, warm hug directly from Heaven to Diet Dr Pepper lovers everywhere! Let’s make ourselves one.

What You’ll Need to Make Dirty Dr Pepper
Ingredients:
- Coconut syrup
- Diet Dr Pepper
- Half and half
How to Make Dirty Dr Pepper
Fill your glass with ice and add the coconut syrup.
Add about half of your Diet Dr Pepper.
Stir just slightly. Then, fill the glass up almost to the top with Diet Dr Pepper, saving about an inch of head space.
Add a splash of half and half.
Stir lightly to “dirty” it all up.
Enjoy! And I do mean enjoy. This is truly delicious!
Storage
Because this is made with soda and cream, it’s best served immediately, as the soda will become flat. Lucky it’s so easy to make!
Recipe Variations
- Now, I know I’m using Diet Dr Pepper. But you can seriously make this dirty soda recipe with any carbonated drink. That might be Pepsi, regular Dr Pepper, flavored Dr Pepper, Mountain Dew, or good old Coca-Cola.
- For extra tropical flavor, add a lime wedge as a garnish, and then add as much freshly squeezed lime juice as you like.
- The traditional option is coconut syrup. But other syrups like vanilla syrup, English toffee syrup, and butterscotch syrup also complement the soda.
- Besides half and half, you can use milk for a lighter option or go creamier with heavy cream.
- Another option is using coconut creamer or coconut milk to boost the coconut flavor.

A friend told me they have it at bartenders supplies stores. I wouldn’t know, haven’t been in one but she gets it through a local liquor distributor who is a friend. Fortunately, I don’t go there but I know someone who does! Might have to try this… wonder how it would taste with root beer?! We do have an international market so will check there.
I think it would be heavenly in root beer! I wonder if liquor stores have it?
Christy,
Smart and Final is one of those kind of stores where you’re buying things in larger quantities — big cans, large bags, etc. People use it who are feeding large numbers of people, altho they also sell small portions and I shop there on a regular basis just for the family.. The one near us carries food, paper products, restaurant-style cooking supplies and liquor. It’s the size of a regular grocery store, not big like Costco. I live in CA. I don’t know if it’s local to CA or if they are in other states, as well.
You can find the flavored syrups at some Costco’s, too. We have one up here in the Seattle area that has a large restaurant supplies section and it has all kinds of syrup flavors. Sam’s Club might carry them, too. Starbuck’s will sell them, but coconut is a seasonal flavor and they don’t have it right now, I think.
You can sometimes find Torani (or other brands) of flavored coffee syrups at T.J. Max, Marshall’s, and Ross stores. I’d like to try the sugar free Amaretto syrup with Diet Dr. Pepper!
You can also find those syrups at the World Market stores. I’ve even seen a tiny selection of them at our Walmart.
We don’t have World Market, either! lol We have Kroger, Publix, and Earth Fare. That is about it as far as grocery stores go. Then Wal Mart. There is a really nice Trader Joes about two hours away… 🙂
There is a world market on hwy 280 in Birmingham in the shopping center where the Target is. Publix can probably order if for you.
There is a World Market in The Avenue in Murfreesboro, TN, and a Charming Charlie there, too… and a great bakery just down the street. As far as this mixture, I’m straight in the pea pod with you on the front end… in other words, this recipe sounds crazy. The trust factor will go up a gazillion fold once I try this. LOLOL
Soubds good 🙂 torani syrups can be found at World Market!! Sometimes Publux but not usually the more exotic flavors like coconut.
I get my sugar free syrups at Smart ‘n Final here in Phoenix. I don’t drink carbonated stuff anymore but I love the syrups in my coffee.
Thank you for all the wonderful recipes!
Patricia
Thank YOU Patricia! I haven’t ever heard of Smart N Final, is it like a regular grocery store?
I found them at World Market if you have one 🙂
They’re smaller than Costco or Sams, but sell in slightly larger quantities for some things than a regular grocery store. In Seattle area they’re called Cash and Carry. I’m not sure if they’re in the South/East. Prices are better for the syrups than online or World Market too.
I love Smart and Final! They are all over Socal. An important thing though is that Smart and Final does not require membership! Any one can go in, whenvever. Love them!
I also do diet cherry Dr Pepper, sugar free vanilla and half and half. Oh my goodness! MMMMM!
