My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard.

Mother would come out and say, “You’re tearing up the grass”

“We’re not raising grass” Dad would reply, “We’re raising boys”

  1. I have made Christy’s cin rolls and they are SUPER YUMMY!! and so easy!! My hubby who hates cream cheese LOVES the frosting!!

  2. I wish I could cook dinner for my dad! He lives several thousand miles away though. I sent him a Father’s Day card though and will call him. I actually got confused and thought last Sunday was Father’s Day, so he’ll have 2 cards and 2 Father’s Day phone calls 😀 If I recall, I did the same thing last year! Oops!

In any case, the recipes look delicious. I know the cinnamon buns are and the cake looks fantastic. I sadly can’t cook a roast in a crock pot to save my life (they always come out VERY dry), but I’m happy for people who can 🙂

Oh and you should report back with your review of Toy Story 3! The first one came out when I was 10. It and Toy Story 2 are among my very most favorite movies- same with my fiance and my mom. We love our Pixar movies. We’re going to go see it this weekend with the agreement that we’ll pretend it never existed if we don’t like it!

    1. Annarose, my roasts were the same way! But once I started cooking them like Christy does, with a can of cream of mushroom soup or beef gravy, they come out PERFECT! I really think you might have some good results if you try it out. My family loves it this way. I have a big ol’ roast in the crock pot right now and I threw a can of beef gravy in there.

      1. Amanda, thanks for the encouragement! I have a pot roast in the freezer. I’ll thaw it out next week and give it a try… I can’t remember if I’ve ever tried one in the crock pot with the cream soup, I know last time I used broth. When I cook a pot roast in the oven I use cream of mushroom soup combined with onion soup mix and water. It turns out pretty well that way.

  3. I will be grilling on Fathers Day! Our boys, daughter-in-laws and grandbaby will come to celebrate… not only Fathers Day but since tomorrow is my hubby’s birthday there will be birthday celebrating and plenty of cake too!!
My Dad died 36 yrs ago and my father-in-law 23 yrs ago so it will also be a day of sweet, sweet memories! Hug your Daddy’s tight y’all and enjoy every minute!!

    Bountiful Blessings!

  4. I don’t know what I’ll make dad for Fathers Day. Made a roast last night to eat for today at lunch. Left about 10:30 to go mow a yard before it got hot outside. I forgot about the roast and cooked him a couple of Corn Dogs. Felt real dang dumb when I got home and looked in the fridge.

So if thats any indication of how my memory is.. Dad may not get much for Fathers Day lol.

    1. It happens to the best of us Bill. I’d be pretty dern excited about corn dogs! In fact, I’m hungry now…I wonder where I could get me a corn dog for lunch….hmmmm…

  5. I wish I could spend this special day with my Daddy. He lives in GA and I’m stuck here in MD. (I did visit him last month though).

Thanks for the great recipes! I will wake up my hubby and son with the homemade CinniBuns! Yum! Thanks Christy!

    1. I can relate, Carol, my Dad lives in FL and I, too, live just south of the Mason Dixon Line in MD. Christy, my husband has been on the South Beach Diet and has lost over 40lbs thus far, so I don’t think he’d go for those delicious looking buns…sigh. They sound so yummy. 🙂

  6. Your meal suggestions look great. my dad passed away at the age of 88 and I still miss him. I will think of him Sunday as I do each day. My dad was a wonderful man who taught me so much. I have never once had to be sorry to say who my dad was and how I wish I could cook for him once more.
