As a certain tv chef would say, these are beans and weenies kicked up a notch. I definitely will try for sure because now I am craving beans and weenies. Ok, secret, can’t eat beans and weenies without some butter bread. My Dr. wouldn’t like that so just so I don’t feel too guilty I will make some steamed veggies to go with this.

I just gotta say again, Christy, I just love all your recipes! I made these tonight for supper, and they are so good. I did change a couple of things, I used smoked beef brats instead of weenies (did not like the brats in it) and I changed the amounts of the sugar, seemed like way too much; so I cut it back to approx. 1/4 cup, was still a little sweet but good, and next time I am gonna drain my beans and reserve liquid to use as needed. These were quite soupy. Oh, and for sure am going to use my slow cooker for them next time. Even on my lowest stove eye setting, they still stuck and nearly scorched :(.. and , yes, I periodically did stir them so that they would not stick. And I will use weenies the next time instead of the smoked brats, I just didnt like the flavor of them in this dish., but.anyways.. yes these are delish!

I have an old standby recipe that I’ve been using for years and that my kids and family and friends adore. But I decided to make these and my goodness are they ever good! Everyone raved on and on about them. I didn’t have weenies so I used garlic fry sausage that I cooked slightly before I added them to the crockpot. Otherwise I followed your recipe and all I can say is thank you!
