- Add 2 tablespoons of freshly chopped chives or parsley.

Recipe FAQs
What is imitation crab dip made of?
Every imitation crab dip recipe is different. But most of them include imitation crab meat (of course), lemon juice, seasoning, and the creamy substance of your choice. This might be plain yogurt, sour cream, or mayo.
What can I substitute for cream cheese?
If cream cheese is scarce in your neck of the woods, I have used plain Greek yogurt and it was just as tasty. Other recipes have listed mayo or sour cream as subs too.
What can I substitute for the crab?
I have made this with little mini shrimp (normally I am not a big seafood fan) and it was divine!

Notes
I’m not the biggest fan of crab dip but I tried it on New Years Eve for family that likes it! I don’t like shrimp sauce so I used tartar sauce and a tad of hot sauce and everyone seemed to like it ok. I tried it, it was ok to me as well but as I said, not the biggest fan of crab dip!
I pinned this! I think I will try this hot. It looks so easy to make!
I made this both cold and hot with the addition of green onions and a pinch of cayenne pepper. It was amazing both ways and was a big hit with everyone. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
Happy New Year everyone. My aunt made this (or very similar) in the 70’s but she did not mix the cocktail sauce into the dip and just put a layer on top of the finished dip. Yummy. Either way, I’m sure.
I have no idea what crab meat tastes like. Is it a fishy taste? Could I just use chicken?
I love just about anything with Old Bay and think I’ll try this with the small
Shrimp.
I have made a very similar recipe using canned baby shrimp. It’s always a big crowd-pleaser.
