I tried this recipe and it went well w/ family @ Christmas so I made it again last night for hubby & me. I made 1 alternation to the recipe tho, which I found it made it even better, ( in my opinion,) I used lof fat cream cheese w/ chives. It added a little more kick w/ the chives. But I have too say you’re right about this recipe being better made w/ cream cheese. I would just add to make sure cream cheese is at room temp.
I have rarely liked anything made with artificial crab meat, but will try one more time with this recipe. Hope it will change my mind about the artificial crab.

I do not like the imitation crab meat and have only used the carton of pasteurized crab meat when making crab cakes. I read the suggestion about not using can crab meat but am curious as to why. I have a can and may take a gamble and use it. I have successfully used it in hot crab dip but want to try a cold dip. Any suggestions? Thank you!!
