The Ingredients You’ll Need to Make this Cheese Soup recipe are:
- Borden® Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- Butter, Heavy Cream (or milk)
- Onion
- Chicken Broth
- Salt
- Pepper
- Paprika
Note: It is best not to use pre-shredded cheese for this as it won’t melt as well as the block cheese will.
While Brady handles the cheese grating, Katy is getting started with the first step over on the stovetop.
I am specifically using Borden® Cheese here because it is delicious, all natural, and is made by a cooperative of over 8,000 family owned dairy farms across the United States. The cheeses they offer include: Mild Cheddar, Mozzarella, Mexican, Swiss, Sharp Cheddar, American, Colby Jack, and more. They are available in singles, shreds, chunks, slices, strings, and snacks! This is creamy, flavorful, delicious cheese made in our homeland and it just makes every dish better.

I always sit down to breakfast, lunch and dinner (I call it supper) at the table. No eating in front of the tv! That is the only time we really have a a truly meaningful conversation with no interruptions. I was raised up to do this and I think it’s one of the most important parts of a family’s day.
Sounds delicious! Looks like it would be pretty low carb, too – depending on what you add to the basic soup. The six of us would gather around the old round dining table most nights. Now, they have their own families, and we get to visit and share meals around their tables.
The cheese soup sounds great and we will be trying it soon. We actually had dinner with my husband’s siblings and in-laws last night as we celebrated a big birthday!
Christy,
I am a 79 year – young widow who lives alone, but I do make myself sit down for 3 meals a day.
I would love to know where to get the blocks of Borden Cheese, the only kind I have found is wrapped slices.
My, how your kids have grown, very good-looking!!!!
Have a blessed week!
It’s sure a special time to have family meals together, definitely worth every effort! I’m anxious to make this cheesy soup to enjoy on one of these special times together. Thanks for the challenge and sharing!
Challenge accepted! Thanks for the reminder to shred bar cheese instead of buying pre-shredded. Not only does it melt better, but it doesn’t have all the preservatives and it’s well worth the couple of extra minutes.
Yum…..my family and I will take the challenge! Can’t wait to try this cheese soup recipe! Looks delicious! Thanks for ALL your recipes that you post! I have the Sweetness Cookbook that I absolutely love! Have a very blessed day!
