The Ingredients You’ll Need to Make this Cheese Soup recipe are:
- Borden® Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- Butter, Heavy Cream (or milk)
- Onion
- Chicken Broth
- Salt
- Pepper
- Paprika
Note: It is best not to use pre-shredded cheese for this as it won’t melt as well as the block cheese will.
While Brady handles the cheese grating, Katy is getting started with the first step over on the stovetop.
I am specifically using Borden® Cheese here because it is delicious, all natural, and is made by a cooperative of over 8,000 family owned dairy farms across the United States. The cheeses they offer include: Mild Cheddar, Mozzarella, Mexican, Swiss, Sharp Cheddar, American, Colby Jack, and more. They are available in singles, shreds, chunks, slices, strings, and snacks! This is creamy, flavorful, delicious cheese made in our homeland and it just makes every dish better.
This cheese soup is as simple as can be to make.

- Add onions and cook, stirring often, until browned.
- Add in broth, cream, and seasonings.
- Reduce to simmer and cook, stirring often, for about ten minutes.
- Add in shredded cheese and continue cooking, stirring constantly, until cheese is melted.

We accept this challenge! We love enjoying meals together;it’s our favorite part of the day!
We have a family dinner every Sunday and all the kids come over. But my husband and I will accept the challenge to eat together another night during the week. Thanks for this recipe for cheese soup. I like how you can customize each bowl. We will definitely be adding jalapeños.
I will take the challenge. We usually try to sit down and eat together as a family every night. That cheese soup looks good. I’ll have to make it this week.
The one thing we try to do with the family is sit down every night for dinner together. I am sure as the kids get older it will not happen as much with all kinds of practice and activities in everyday life
Soup looks amazing and I love how you involve you children in the process. My daughter and I made banana pudding cupcakes together last night for my father’s birthday. The cupcakes were a hit but what I love most is the memories we made together.
We use cheese of some kind several times a week and cook mac & cheese a couple times plus sometimes my kids want it everyday lol
Yum! We love soup at our house! We sit down to dinner as a family with our 16 year old twin daughters 2-3 days/ week – it is amazing the things you find out about your kids at the dinner table!
