The Ingredients You’ll Need to Make this Cheese Soup recipe are:
- Borden® Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- Butter, Heavy Cream (or milk)
- Onion
- Chicken Broth
- Salt
- Pepper
- Paprika
Note: It is best not to use pre-shredded cheese for this as it won’t melt as well as the block cheese will.
While Brady handles the cheese grating, Katy is getting started with the first step over on the stovetop.
I am specifically using Borden® Cheese here because it is delicious, all natural, and is made by a cooperative of over 8,000 family owned dairy farms across the United States. The cheeses they offer include: Mild Cheddar, Mozzarella, Mexican, Swiss, Sharp Cheddar, American, Colby Jack, and more. They are available in singles, shreds, chunks, slices, strings, and snacks! This is creamy, flavorful, delicious cheese made in our homeland and it just makes every dish better.
This cheese soup is as simple as can be to make.

- Add onions and cook, stirring often, until browned.
- Add in broth, cream, and seasonings.
- Reduce to simmer and cook, stirring often, for about ten minutes.
- Add in shredded cheese and continue cooking, stirring constantly, until cheese is melted.

I would so love to carry out this challenge, but my family is so very small and the current situation makes it hard to sit down with family. Husband was just placed in a nursing home (hopefully short term), just buried my 86 year old mom last Monday, my son often works double shifts and sister works a lot of overtime. But I was able to spend the day with my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter today and so we sat down to breakfast this morning before she went home. Please pray for me that my husband will get home soon and that his appetite picks up so that we can carry out this challenge daily.
What a sweet picture of your Children!
I can find Borden products even out West. I grew up in Oklahoma eating Borden cottage cheese and drinking Borden milk. It was part of our family. We ate together every night and we still do. Just Dad and I now. Sometimes we eat crazy things like pineapple upside down cake for supper and we don’t feel guilty!
Always tried to have sit down dinners and sometimes it actually happened! With my adult children now, I always plan special meals when they are home. Some of the best conversations happen while we are cooking together and catching up. Thank you for the opportunity!
Best part of any meal, sitting together with my family.
Always had sit down dinners when my kids were still at home. Just me now and I still have my own 2 to 3 times a week. I have enjoyed many of your recipes and still love to try them.
We have family mealtime on weekends when my daughter and son-in-law are off. ( I live with them and my 2 precious grandbabies). I do the cooking and Borden cheese is my favorite brand! I love how easily it melts and the creamy flavor. We’re definitely trying this recipe soon- my grandbabies love cheese!
