The Ingredients You’ll Need to Make this Cheese Soup recipe are:
- Borden® Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- Butter, Heavy Cream (or milk)
- Onion
- Chicken Broth
- Salt
- Pepper
- Paprika
Note: It is best not to use pre-shredded cheese for this as it won’t melt as well as the block cheese will.
While Brady handles the cheese grating, Katy is getting started with the first step over on the stovetop.
I am specifically using Borden® Cheese here because it is delicious, all natural, and is made by a cooperative of over 8,000 family owned dairy farms across the United States. The cheeses they offer include: Mild Cheddar, Mozzarella, Mexican, Swiss, Sharp Cheddar, American, Colby Jack, and more. They are available in singles, shreds, chunks, slices, strings, and snacks! This is creamy, flavorful, delicious cheese made in our homeland and it just makes every dish better.
This cheese soup is as simple as can be to make.

- Add onions and cook, stirring often, until browned.
- Add in broth, cream, and seasonings.
- Reduce to simmer and cook, stirring often, for about ten minutes.
- Add in shredded cheese and continue cooking, stirring constantly, until cheese is melted.

What a great sounding recipe. I can’t wait to make this. Dinner time is a chance to gather as a family and reconnect when everyone has such busy schedules.
Always had family sit down dinners when my kids were at home, now that we are empty nesters my husband and I still do. I love Borden cheese and use it in alot of my dishes!
Challenge accepted! Meal time is such an important time to re-connect! Love the recipe – thanks for all the great tips and encouragement.
We will eat together as a family this week, enjoying that time especially as we think of my son going away to work at a camp this summer. And I will allow my kids to help more with supper. Sometimes it’s easier to just do it myself, but this soup will be a great way to include them!
