The Ingredients You’ll Need to Make this Cheese Soup recipe are:
- Borden® Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- Butter, Heavy Cream (or milk)
- Onion
- Chicken Broth
- Salt
- Pepper
- Paprika
Note: It is best not to use pre-shredded cheese for this as it won’t melt as well as the block cheese will.
While Brady handles the cheese grating, Katy is getting started with the first step over on the stovetop.
I am specifically using Borden® Cheese here because it is delicious, all natural, and is made by a cooperative of over 8,000 family owned dairy farms across the United States. The cheeses they offer include: Mild Cheddar, Mozzarella, Mexican, Swiss, Sharp Cheddar, American, Colby Jack, and more. They are available in singles, shreds, chunks, slices, strings, and snacks! This is creamy, flavorful, delicious cheese made in our homeland and it just makes every dish better.
This cheese soup is as simple as can be to make.
- Melt butter in a medium stock pot over medium heat.
- Add onions and cook, stirring often, until browned.
- Add in broth, cream, and seasonings.
- Reduce to simmer and cook, stirring often, for about ten minutes.
- Add in shredded cheese and continue cooking, stirring constantly, until cheese is melted.
Check out the video to see everyone adding in their favorite toppings. This is my bowl, with diced ham and steamed broccoli. ENJOY!

With Girl Scout cookie craziness we have all bee eating at different times. This week I’m hoping to take some time for us to just sit down as a family and eat together. I haven’t had the chance to cook since we have been working so many cookie booths. A nice cheesy dish might just do the trick to get us all together for supper!
Challenge accepted!!!
My husband, myself, and my 72 years young sister eat supper together every night. My sister isn’t a cheese lover, but I’m gradually getting her to try some, and she likes mozzarella! This looks like a good recipe to start my 10 year old granddaughter on. She’s wanting to come over this summer and learn to cook.
I accept this challenge! Our children have families spread out over the state (Kentucky). We meet with my sister and brother-in-law several times a week for family dinners.
I think this is the best challenge. Growing up, my family always ate together at the table. After marrying and having a son , I carried on with this tradition as he grew up. As empty nesters, we have not kept this tradition alive. I am going to turn off all of the electronics in the house and have dinner with my husband this week.
Love Borden and other cheese, too. We enjoy lots of family dinners during the week.
We have dinner together every evening. It’s so important and a great relaxing way to catch up on the day’s events.
Awesome idea. Along woth this soup, corn bread would taste so good. You have a way of making cooking fun, enjoyable and easy. Love it. Eating dinner with my husband doesnt happen every evening because of his work but when it does is such a good time to connect. Thank you for all the effort
Looking at the kids cooking together reminded me of how much fun my grandkids have cooking with me, maybe they are ready for grandma just to watch. We love Sunday family dinners
We accept!!
