Hey friends! I’m so excited to be bringing you a recipe that my kids are excited to share today, courtesy of Borden® Cheese! This Cheese Soup is one of my kid’s favorite meals. They love that everyone can customize the flavor of their own bowl and they also love to make it as a family, which makes supper even more fun!

cheese soup ingredients

The Ingredients You’ll Need to Make this Cheese Soup recipe are:

  • Borden® Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • Butter, Heavy Cream (or milk)
  • Onion
  • Chicken Broth
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Paprika

Note: It is best not to use pre-shredded cheese for this as it won’t melt as well as the block cheese will.

brady and katy cooking

While Brady handles the cheese grating, Katy is getting started with the first step over on the stovetop.

I am specifically using Borden® Cheese here because it is delicious, all natural, and is made by a cooperative of over 8,000 family owned dairy farms across the United States. The cheeses they offer include: Mild Cheddar, Mozzarella, Mexican, Swiss, Sharp Cheddar, American, Colby Jack, and more. They are available in singles, shreds, chunks, slices, strings, and snacks! This is creamy, flavorful, delicious cheese made in our homeland and it just makes every dish better.

  1. The cheese soup recipe looks great. I will try this recipe the next time I want a Cheese based soup. I was brought up having evening meals (at least 6 times a week) with my parents and sister so it is not surprising that when married my husband and I carried on this same tradition with our children and I am very happy to tell you that it is still being carried on by our children and grandchildren. Thank You Christy for bringing this challenge to your many readers.

  2. Challenge accepted! As a single person, instead of eating at the counter or on the couch, I am going to sit at the table and enjoy my meal!

  4. We eat dinner together pretty much every night of the week, whether it’s home-cooked or a pizza from the shop around the corner. Love the pic of your children, Christy. Just precious!

  5. I talked to my 96-year-old mother today about making tea cakes. She always made such good ones and I was checking her recipe against your two recipes. No, I’m not crazy. I know we’re looking at cheese soup here and I plan to try it.

  6. What’s not to love about that recipe?!!! My sweetie and I have dinner together every night.
