Peggy here again. I forgot to say, Christy, that I can totally understand why you might want to take a pause from cookbooks. The amount of work that must go into a cookbook boggles the mind–all that cooking, revising and cooking again, over and over, plus the writing! I’m sure it must be many times the work of writing a non-cooking book. You need to have some periods of life when the demands on you are far lighter, to enjoy life with your family without so much stress and to have some generous time for yourself, too.
But I hope that you will never entirely stop writing cookbooks! Your cookbooks are treasures! And they promote so exquisitely the power of gathering family members and friends at the table, where most of life really happens and where memories are carved. Your sweet spirit infuses your cookbooks in a way that no other cookbook I have ever had does (and I have a huge number of cookbooks). Or even any other cookbook that I have ever seen. It’s great to have your God-loving and people-loving presence in my kitchen.
I’d love to have a Christmas cookbook from you, for instance!
Christy this was my absolute favorite post so far of yours–of countless incredibly wonderful posts! I have always immensely loved your essays and any times you have shared your thoughts on life and on going through life with God.
You overflow with superb down-to-earth wisdom, encouragement, inspiration and love. I would be thrilled to see you write MANY books sharing your thoughts! (We met when you spoke in a northern suburb of Dallas. I was the one in the white blouse and black jumper who told you that you wonderfully “oozed love” [God’s love] in your posts and also told you about some souffles I wished I could treat you to.)
I will be praying for you in this final stretch of your book work!

Christy, I love your videos! Good luck with your new book and by the way, next time if you will, go ahead and get your Mom on the video, lol. You are so blessed to have your Mom, not that I have to tell you that, I know you already realize that, I only wish mine was still here.
