I asked some of my fellowship group friends on Facebook to share any quotes that were special to them and Darrelyn Kelley shared this one. As I started reading it I thought “yes! I love this! Exactly!” and then I saw who had originally said it, lol. I guess it’s good I agree!

  2. I had this once at a church pot luck and fell in love! I have made it a few times since then for special occasions. My littlest sister turns 16 in December, so I may make it for her.

  3. Hi Christy, this cake looks absolutely amazing. But I have a dumb question. When you say to poke holes in the cake with a fork, should you be going all the way through the cake to the bottom? Or just maybe like half way through it or whatever?

    1. No dumb questions here! When you ask a question it gives me a chance to clarify it for everyone else, too, so thank you! Just poke holes as deeply as your fork tines will go and that is fine. The main goal is to penetrate the top and once you get through the top, the inner crumb air pockets will take care of the rest so it doesn’t have to be deep. 🙂

      1. Thank you so much for answering me, Christy. I love all your recipes and enjoy listening to all your inspirational, and often times funny, stories. God bless you, Christy. Thank you for all you do for everyone. We love ‘ya!

      2. This may have been noted already–I haven’t read everything yet. But, since I just experienced this, I suggest you don’t poke holes all way through the cake. I did–as directed–and the mixture poured over the cake all settled in the bottom and it make the cake a bit “sticky”.
I must add that it was NOT this recipe, but it was for a pineapple bundt cake.

P.S. I love opening the surprises in your emails.

      3. This cake is amazing! It’s also great with other candy like Heath bars. I’ve always used white cake mix, but chocolate cake sounds good too. I use the small round handle of one of my wooden spoons to poke the holes. Keep those great recipes coming!
