When was the last time you sat outside and sipped on something? When I was little, that was what folks did during their downtime. They’d drag a chair underneath a shade tree, pour a big glass of iced tea or lemonade and sit and sip as they visited.

You used to love company showing up because that meant you had an excuse to take a break from work! This weekend with all of the Derby talk, I got to thinking of blushing apple juleps and how much fun my family has sitting and chatting on the patio so I mixed us up a batch of these blushing ones and my kids were thrilled. This is one of their favorite fruity drinks and I usually make a double batch for us to sip on for a few days. Mixing these delicious concoctions up is as simple as pouring the juice in and stirring, so I do hope you get to try them soon! Once you have tried this make sure to try these other delicious drinks like Old-Fashioned Lemonade, Peach Lemonade or Tropical Pink Mocktail.

P.S. Unlike traditional juleps, this blushing apple julep is alcohol free and family friendly 🙂

  1. It’s possible canning the pineapple juice has something to do with transportation- pineapple only grows in the tropics.
Where I live it I can also buy it in frozen concentrate, as someone mentioned earlier. I often just mix up half the concentrate and refreeze the remaining for later ( while still pretty frozen scope out half, then cover remaining with a little water so when it freezes the ice will create a seal on top of remaining concentrate.

  2. I love the apple julep recipe from your cook book. This version looks good, too! And I agree, the pineapple can seems ridiculous and wasteful. They sell tomato juice in big cans like that, too.

  3. This sounds WONDERFUL!! I Love fruity drinks…and my sweet tea!! My family here in North Alabama always says “make” tea…as in, I need to make some tea…and I so get the French thing! I took 2 years of French in high school but I’m having my kids take Spanish…it is much more practical, even here in Alabama!

  4. I guess I can consider myself lucky-I can get Dole pineapple juice in a half gallon paper carton as well as a 6 pack of small single serve cans.

  5. These remind me of the apple juleps they serve at Applewood restaurant near Pigeon Forge! Thank you for sharing this recipe!

  6. I usually buy frozen pineapple juice concentrate (which was a necessary ingredient in the very not-family-friendly pina coladas I perfected in college), but then you have the problem of finding a pitcher (or an empty 2-liter soda bottle). But it tastes sooooo much better!
