A few weeks back I posted about my back to school resolution and how it has become a challenge in the middle of my ever growing schedule to find time to make supper each night. I’ve employed some creative solutions such as cooking up meals ahead of time, freezing, and using my slow cooker more. I’ve even tried ~takes a breath~ planning. I hate that part of it. I’m really a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants gal when it comes to supper. I like to just wait and see what I’m in the mood for when it comes time to cook. I also don’t enjoy cooking ahead as that takes the fun out of getting to cook each night for me, but I’m working on developing new habits in order to be able to adjust to a more demanding work schedule and still keep family the top priority – and it’s working.

Today, I’d like for you to tell me how your back to school resolutions are going and we have a special treat for those who leave a comment!

The wonderful folks at Nestle are teaming up with me

  1. My back-to-school resolution has nothing to do with food. It is to learn to say “no” more often. My new rule of thumb is to say “no” if the activity takes me farther from my kids (committees, adult volunteer projects, phone calling, etc.) and say “yes” if it brings me closer to my kids (family volunteer projects, helping in the classroom, girl/boy scout activities, etc.) I feel better already!!

  2. Love, love, love your site and your quirky sense of humor!!!! Thanks for all you do to keep us happy and our tummies full !

  3. I have been retired for 7 years now, and have not had school mornings for quite a few years. But having 4 children, kept me really busy and finding socks and shoes and getting quick breakfasts was an adventure. I love your recipies and use them always, my husband and I love the Mexican Chicken Casserole you just sent me. Every time my husband comes into my computer room he sees me on your site and says (“what are we having new tonite”). I wish we had such things as computers when my kids were little, suppers would have been so quick. Your cook book would be great on a Nook e-reader. Thanks for the recipes and the comments, you have a great family!

  4. Tomorrow is my first official day of retirement after working for 30 years! Plenty of time to read and try all your great recipes! Thanks for the great site and the cookbook.

  5. my new school rules were to just try and be a little more organized with all of the three kids paperwork – to go ahead and sign things and put stuff in their backpacks immediately. also to have backpacks ready before bedtime. also to get on homework right after school and get it OVER with! enough already. but my main goal is to just survive until the next school morning and do it all over again. ha. thanks! would love to win a nook!!!!
