How To Make Peach Cobbler

This is one of my mother’s recipes and she took all of these photographs. I wasn’t even there for a bite of it! Mama has always had a way with peaches. In the future, I hope to show you her peach freezer jam and the historical peach crisp we make. She used to make this homemade sour dough bread and we’d eat it hot out of the oven with slices completely smothered in fresh peach freezer jam. Oh my lord, I miss living at home.
In the meantime, while I’m preparing my tutorial on peanut butter balls and finishing up my writing on my grandmother’s sweet potato pie, lets give you another of my mother’s summer classics : Fresh Peach Cobbler.
(notice Mama uses the real stuff, unlike me!), and fresh peeled peaches.
There is a note on how to substitute canned at the bottom.
This helps the sugar to dissolve faster.
DO NOT STIR.
I know you really want to…
DO NOT STIR!
Bake at 350 for 55 minutes, or until golden on the top.
If I didn’t have a food blog, that alone would be grounds for some sort of criminal charges.
Mamas are evil.

Coming up this weekend, Peanut butter balls, Sweet Potato Casserole, or how to make dried beans…….whichever I get the hankering to put up first! I’m going out of town on Sunday and will be back Monday night. I plan on having a post scheduled to go up during that time but won’t be replying to any comments until I get back home. I hope y’all get some good things to eat while I’m gone!
If you don’t have fresh peaches or just want an easier way to do this, substitute the following for the fresh peaches:
I know this post is over 10 years old but I have to comment and say how much I love this recipe. Right after I got married my husband mentioned he wanted peach cobbler. I found this recipe and haven’t looked for another one since. I’ve made it the traditional way and with canned peaches…although I have to say I’ve made it many more times with canned peaches than fresh for time’s sake! It’s so delicious and I always get so many compliments when I make this cobbler. This recipe is certainly a keeper. Thanks for sharing!!
I am so glad it has become a favorite in your home Marissa!!! Thank you so much for coming back and letting me know 🙂
I just made this cobbler and it was the best peach cobbler I have ever made!
Thank you Linda, I am so glad you enjoyed it!!!
Am so glad I found you. Last week my 81 year old dad and I went to the peach orchard. Every year he makes several trips and picks peaches for not just himself but anyone at church he believes might want them. Together we picked 137 pounds of peaches. He gave most of them away but I still have a lot here. Found your instructions for dehydrating them. Will do that but also try this recipe and your buttermilk peach pie.. 🙂 You are now on my favorites list. Just got to figure out what to do with the 10 pounds of white nectarines he also picked. LOL Cause I know him, we will be picking again next week. Oh and have to figure out what to do with all that Okra I am picking from his garden daily.
Oh man, I don’t know how I am going to keep up with him, even in his failing health!
Thank you!
Oh what a lucky girl you are Melanie!! I love that he is so active and the “young’uns” have a hard time keeping up with his pace!! I hope you enjoy the peaches and nectarines. You could also dehydrate the nectarines, you could can them, make a pie, a cobbler or anything really!
This is a nice peach cobbler, only I used a regular biscuit dough and it was delicious.
I am so glad you liked it Annette!!!
Thank you for the peach cobbler recipe I really want to thank you for the post about ” our words”. That was a very good article and so true, the tongue is a double edge sword, it is a deadly weapon. As most of our mamas told us and I told my children, if u cannot say something nice, just shut your mouth. We all, even us seasoned ladies, need reminders, with age we sometimes lose our filters, we must remember, younger ladies are watching us and may THINK we are nice. Let’s live up to their expectations. Be encouraging, be that sweet little lady, that always has nice things to say. I write an encouraging post on F/B every day, may use your topic for my post one day this week. Will not replicate yours but use the topic. Thank you Christy
So true Betty, we never know who is watching!!
That looks so good! Your mama makes her cobbler the same way my mama did. A cup of milk, a cup of flour, a cup of sugar and a stick of butter was always used in whatever flavor cobbler she made. It was usually peach or blackberry.
🙂
This was AWESOMEEEE. Especially for someone who doesn’t know anything about baking 😀 Thanks for the tip on how to replace the fresh peaches with canned peaches!
I am so glad you liked it Lynette!!!
