These scrumptious summer pies are the perfect sweet treat this summer. They’re all easy to make and may use fresh summer ingredients or are best served cold.
Today’s post is a follow-up to last week’s 6 make-ahead summer cakes and I’m excited to bring you 6 cool summer pies! These are tried and true, honest to goodness, old-fashioned pie recipes that will pluck at your heartstrings and make your stomach smile.
The Best Summer Pies
Peaches and Cream Pie
What do you get when you combine a layer of juicy peach slices with a deliciously sweet cream cheese pie filling and whipped topping? My perfect peaches and cream pie recipe!
Using only 5 ingredients, it’s easy as pie to make this sweet-as-sunshine orange meringue pie recipe, which lemon meringue pie fans will love.
I have one bit of advice when it comes to this summer fruit pie recipe. Always make two, as one fruit pie is just never enough! How good do the fresh berries look, though? And the best part is, you only need 4 ingredients to make my homemade fresh strawberry pie. This includes juicy fresh strawberries, strawberry jello, cornstarch, and sugar. Serve with whipped cream for an absolutely amazing summer dessert.
By the way, there’s more than one on this blog. This is just my favorite one to make with . I also have recipes for a , strawberry ice cream pie, and jello .
Old-Fashioned Peanut Butter Pie
This peanut butter meringue pie is an old-fashioned and classic Southern summer pie recipe. It includes three delicious layers, including sweet and creamy vanilla custard, light meringue, and a crumbly streusel-like peanut butter topping in a flaky crust. I promise it’s not too complicated to make and the pie is SO worth it!
Cherry Cream Cheese Pie
My Grandmama always made this cherry cream cheese pie especially for me growing up. It is still a favorite today. Fortunately, it’s easy to make with simple ingredients, like cream cheese, lemon juice, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract in a graham cracker crust.
You can also adapt this summer pie recipe to suit you. While I use cherry pie filling because that’s what my Grandmama did (no here), you might like to do raspberry or blueberry pie filling instead. Serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
Lemon Chess Pie
An old-fashioned lemon chess pie for those of us who can appreciate the simple, delicious, and lemony things in life! When you want a quick summer dessert that needs minimal ingredients, check out lemon chess pie. You only need butter, eggs, lemon, and sugar.
Place this sweet and zesty filling in a store-bought pie crust and this summer pie will be ready to serve in no time! Garnish with whipped cream and a lemon slice.

Hello Christy! How are you? Feeling blessed I hope. Christy, I love you recipes. The best things I like about them are how you show step by step instructions and the ingredents are not expenses in other words cheap, cheap, cheap genertic brands. Thank you so very much, I have used serveral of your recipes and I like them. Again thank you.
Thank you so much Ronda, you are so kind. I try my best to make sure that most of my recipes are friendly on the budget and easy on time. I am feeling very blessed, thank you for asking. I hope you are feeling blessed yourself and have a wonderful day!
Wow, I don’t know which one to make first. They all look so wonderful. What a great post.
Gotta, just gotta make the Lemon Chess first ~ it’s a delicious memory for me. I ate it for dessert on Sundays when my Daddy wanted to go to this little restaurant called the Toddler House…way back in the 60’s! Heading in to grate those lemons now. Sounds like a great dessert to go w/ the White Chicken Chili that’s in the crockpot right now.
Hi C! I so appreciate your post today, just before the summer’s hottest holiday, July 4th (and it always involves food 😛 ). However, I am now in a pickle because of you….. since you listed 6, count them, SIX pies to choose from. How am I supposed to choose? Shall I flip a coin, do a random survey, have hubby pick an alphabet letter and hope it falls on a certain pie name? Hmmm ~scratches head~ since I just had a big # birthday and am now “old”….I’ll choose one of the pies w/ “old” in the name. Whew….now see? I just freed you up for your big weekend for Big Idea. Have a great 4th!!!!! Love ya! T.
OMG all these pies look good. I will be busy this Sunday baking. Thank you
Now Christy I’m sure these are all low in calories, right? I’m loading up on strawberries and just might make 4 pies for the shindig this weekend. You have a great holiday and let’s just not worry about the scales!
Hey, Christy! These all look scrumptious! Think I’ll have to make that strawberry pie real soon; ok, 2 strawberry pies! Have a great week! Mary
